Men Wanted for Hazardous Journey

On December 29, 1914 the London Times ran an advertisement which read:

Men wanted for Hazardous Journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.

This ad was posted by Sir Ernest Shackleton, an acclaimed arctic explorer who is famous for his voyage aboard the Endurance, in which he led a group of 27 men through one of the greatest survival stories of all time. The ship was bound for Antarctica on a variety of dominion goals and during this unforgettable journey their manhood was tested to the full and unparalleled risks were taken repeatedly. It is the spirit of adventures like this that we start the Hazardous Journeys Society. But in all that we do we desire to do so much more. In all we do, we desire that the God of Creation will be glorified.

Into the Amazon Expedition
